xMATRIX
Philips matrix-array transducer technology. The flagship X6-1 probe uses ~9,000 active elements — roughly 35× a conventional phased-array probe — for live volumetric (3D / 4D) cardiac imaging without mechanical scanheads. Adjacent xMATRIX TEE probes serve transesophageal cardiac imaging.
Why it matters to buyers: Enables live 3D / 4D cardiac without mechanical scanheads. Defines the premium cardiac ultrasound tier on Philips iU22 / iE33 / EPIQ CVx platforms. Mandatory for advanced echo workflows (live 3D TEE for structural cardiac, intracardiac volumetry).
Why it matters to engineers: Most fragile probe family in the fleet — high element count, high pin count, sensitive connector. Connector damage is the top failure mode. xMATRIX-capable probe ports are required on the cart; not all iU22 / iE33 chassis support xMATRIX.
