Philips EPIQ CVx
Family: Philips EPIQ · Modality: Ultrasound
Cardiovascular-dedicated configuration of the EPIQ platform. Built on the same nSIGHT imaging architecture and xMATRIX transducer family as the general-imaging EPIQ Elite, but configured for adult echocardiography, TEE, pediatric / congenital cardiac, and stress echo. Successor-class to the iE33 in cardiology-dedicated premium ultrasound. An interventional variant, EPIQ CVxi, adds features for structural-heart procedural imaging.
Platform highlights
- nSIGHT Imaging — parallel-pixel beamforming that delivers uniform resolution across the full field of view, unchanged from EPIQ Elite.
- xMATRIX transducer family — 2D matrix-array probes that deliver 2D, 3D/4D, Live xPlane (biplane), Live MPR (multiplanar), Doppler, and color Doppler from a single probe. The workflow impact is that a cardiology exam does not require probe swaps to move from 2D to biplane to volumetric.
- PureWave single-crystal transducers — S5-1 and related transthoracic probes for sensitivity and penetration in technically difficult patients.
- TOMTEC-ARENA integration — onboard advanced quantification (strain, AutoStrain, AI chamber quantification) sharing software with TOMTEC off-cart workspaces.
- Ultrasound Workspace — holistic on-cart + off-cart reading / reporting environment built on the TOMTEC-ARENA platform.
- Dedicated cardiology workflow — stress-echo, contrast-echo, TEE, and strain protocols configured for echo lab throughput.
Transducers commonly configured
- X5-1 — adult transthoracic xMATRIX.
- S5-1 — adult transthoracic PureWave.
- X7-2t — adult TEE (2D + Live 3D, Live xPlane, 3D Zoom).
- X8-2t — advanced TEE with xMATRIX, 2D / Live xPlane / Live 3D / 3D Zoom / Full Volume / 3D color.
- S8-3 / S12-4 — pediatric / neonatal cardiac.

Clinical positioning
- Adult echocardiography — resting and stress, 2D / strain / 3D LV assessment.
- Transesophageal (TEE) — adult diagnostic and intraoperative.
- Pediatric / congenital — high-frequency transthoracic and TEE for pediatric cardiology.
