GE Vivid E9
Manufacturer: GE HealthCare · Modality: Ultrasound
GE's cardiac-dedicated ultrasound cart. Direct competitor to the Philips iE33 in the refurb echocardiography market. Shares chassis + port architecture with Logiq E9 but ships with cardiology-optimized application packages and matrix-array 4V / 4V-D probes for live 3D echo.
Clinical positioning
The reference cardiac ultrasound cart for most of the 2010s. Standard in many academic + community echo labs. Supports routine TTE (transthoracic echo), stress echo, TEE (with TEE probes), and 3D echo with the matrix probe.
Specs
- Cart-based · 4 active probe ports
- Matrix-array 4V / 4V-D for 4D cardiac
- M5Sc / M5S adult cardiac phased-array probes
- Speckle tracking (AFI — automated function imaging)
- Cardiac strain + longitudinal function metrics
Clinical applications
- TTE / stress echo / TEE (with appropriate probes)
- Pediatric + adult congenital
- Intracardiac echo in cath lab (with AcuNav-class probe)
Service reality
Cardiac probes (S5, M5Sc, 4V, 4V-D) are heavily used and wear faster than radiology probes. Budget for probe refurbishment. TEE probes have their own decontamination + QC cycle — check before purchase.
