GE LightSpeed VCT Select
Family: LightSpeed · Modality: CT
Variant siblings: VCT XT · VCT (base)
Mid-tier 64-slice LightSpeed VCT. Shares the same 70 cm gantry, Performix Pro VCT 100 tube, and VDAS detector generation as XT, trimmed on the capability side to address a lower capital price point. Positioned between the feature-rich VCT XT and the original VCT base configuration.
What Select omits vs XT
- Pre-V-Res detector — earlier detector generation; the V-Res 40 mm detector ships only on VCT XT.
- 0.4 s minimum rotation vs XT's 0.35 s.
- No Volume Shuttle — perfusion workflows that depend on the back-and-forth table motion aren't supported.
- ASiR licensed optionally, not included by default. Units without the ASiR license run FBP reconstruction only.
- SnapShot Pulse cardiac gating available as an option rather than standard; many deployed Selects are not cardiac-configured.
Specs
- 64 slices · 70 cm gantry aperture
- Pre-V-Res detector
- Performix Pro VCT 100 tube · 8.0 MHU heat capacity
- 100 kW high-frequency generator
- 0.4 s minimum rotation
- ASiR iterative reconstruction (optional licensing)
- SnapShot Pulse cardiac gating (optional)
- Host software 5.x generation
Clinical positioning
- Community hospital CT — routine body, neuro, trauma where XT-tier dose reduction and cardiac workflows aren't required or budgeted.
- Outpatient imaging — high-volume abdomen/pelvis, chest, head.
- Cardiac-capable only when ordered with the gating + ASiR license — without those, Select is functionally a 64-slice body / neuro workhorse.
Relationship to siblings
- vs VCT XT — same chassis, trimmed features. V-Res detector, Volume Shuttle, and ASiR licensing are the meaningful separators.
- vs VCT base — Select is slightly faster and supports ASiR / cardiac as licensed options; base does not.
- Successor-class — Revolution-generation scanners displaced Select in new orders.
