Philips Allura Xper FD20

Family: Allura Xper · Modality: Interventional X-Ray

Universal interventional platform. 19" / ~30 × 40 cm flat-panel detector at 2k × 2k resolution (4× the pixel count of conventional fluoroscopy), paired with the 100 kW MRC tube and Xper workflow. The defining hardware feature vs FD10 is the rotating detector, which supports both portrait and landscape framing on the same acquisition and makes FD20 a practical single-room solution for cardiac, neuro, peripheral vascular, and interventional radiology work.

Why the rotating detector matters

  • Long peripheral runs — lower-extremity angiography benefits from portrait framing that a non-rotating FD10 detector can't deliver without repositioning the patient.
  • Neuro applications — cerebral angiography uses oblique projections that the rotating detector accommodates cleanly.
  • Cardiac plus non-cardiac workloads — FD20 rooms service both cardiac and non-cardiac interventional procedures in rotation, broadening room utilization vs a cardiac-only FD10 room.

Xper workflow and host software

  • Xper host — Philips' pre-Azurion cath-lab / IR workflow environment.
  • Software revisions — typical deployed range R7.x (earliest) through R8.1 / R8.2 (latest Xper rev; R8.2 is the bridge to the Azurion upgrade discussion).
  • Haemo / physiological integration — Xper IM / Philips haemodynamic system integration is standard on cardiac-configured FD20s.

ClarityIQ upgrade

FD20 systems were broadly offered the ClarityIQ dose-reduction upgrade during their service life. ClarityIQ-upgraded units are typically branded Allura Clarity FD20 in the field — core mechanics unchanged, detector / image chain / software updated to deliver dose reduction at matched image quality. Azurion is a full platform replacement rather than a field upgrade.
