GE Innova 3100-IQ

Family: GE Innova · Modality: Interventional X-Ray

Intermediate-detector single-plane interventional platform. 31 × 31 cm (12.2″ × 12.2″) flat-panel detector occupies the middle of the Innova detector-size spectrum — larger than the cardiac-dedicated 2100-IQ (20 × 20 cm) and smaller than the universal 4100-IQ (40 × 40 cm). Positioned for cardiology departments that also perform a substantial peripheral, EP, and neurovascular workload without requiring the full 40 × 40 detector.

Platform highlights

  • 30 × 30 cm class detector (31 × 31 cm physical, 12.2 × 12.2″) — accommodates combined cardiac, EP, interventional radiology, and neurovascular workflows on one room.
  • 2k × 2k pixel matrix on later-revision 3100-IQ units — 4× conventional fluoroscopy pixel count.
  • Up to 30 fps — adequate for cardiac cine and high-frame neuro runs.
  • Four fields of view available in 3D, record, and fluoroscopy modes — operator-selectable zoom/FOV per clinical need.
  • 100 kW high-frequency generator · Performix 160A-class tube.
  • SID range 89–119 cm — positioning flexibility for patient size and procedure type.
  • Floor-mounted L-arm + offset C-arm — shared Innova geometry; keeps table and anesthesia access clear of the gantry.

Dose management

  • AutoEx — real-time thickness measurement and image-content analysis to compute optimal exposure for contrast-to-noise.
  • DoseSense — Innova's IQ-generation dose-management program. Supports operational dose tracking and exposure discipline.
  • DRM (Dynamic Range Management) — real-time online post-processing to enhance vessel contrast and device visibility.
  • High DQE detector — detective quantum efficiency tuned to deliver matched image quality at lower patient dose.

Storage and throughput

  • Image storage — capacity on the order of 136,000 cardiac images / 68,000 angio images on late-rev configurations.
  • Native cardiac throughput — cardiac cine at 15 / 30 fps with haemo system integration (Mac-Lab in most deployments).

Specs

  • Single-plane floor-mount L-arm / offset C-arm geometry
  • 31 × 31 cm flat-panel detector (12.2″ × 12.2″)
  • 2k × 2k pixel matrix (later revisions)
  • 100 kW HF generator · Performix 160A-class tube
  • Up to 30 fps
  • SID 89–119 cm
  • AutoEx / DoseSense / DRM dose-management chain
  • Grid-pulsed fluoroscopy

Clinical positioning

  • Combined cardiac + peripheral + neuro + EP / IR room — the 30 × 30 detector is the sweet spot for centers that don't have separate dedicated rooms for each workflow.
  • Cardiology + interventional radiology hybrid — coronary + limited peripheral + biliary / drainage on a single gantry.
  • EP lab — adequate cine capability for EP fluoroscopy alongside 3D mapping systems.
  • Smaller hospital footprint than 4100-IQ for equivalent combined workflows.

Relationship to siblings

  • Innova 2100-IQ — 20 × 20 cm cardiac-only sibling. 2100-IQ suits pure-coronary rooms; 3100-IQ steps up when non-coronary volume is routine.
  • Innova 4100-IQ — 40 × 40 cm universal sibling. 4100-IQ is the right choice when peripheral runs or full neuro thrombectomy are the primary workload.
  • Innova 3100 (non-IQ) — predecessor-class without IQ-generation dose management.
  • Discovery IGS 520 / 630 / 740 — GE's successor interventional platform with motorized rail-mounted gantry; different chassis architecture than the Innova L-arm.
