Hologic Clarity HD Mammography Detector
Hologic's current-generation amorphous-selenium direct-conversion mammography detector — the detector that defines the 3Dimensions (Genius 3D) platform. 70 µm pixel pitch (same as 2D FFDM, retained for 3D slice reconstruction) with updated a-Se layer characteristics over prior Selenia Dimensions detector generations. Supports the 3.7-second DBT acquisition at full resolution and the 3DQuorum slabbed reconstruction workflow.

Diagnosis
- Pixel dropout — local sensitivity loss; visible on daily flat-field phantom.
- Uniformity drift — a-Se detector material drift over time. Monthly QC catches it.
- Delamination — rare but physical damage to the a-Se layer; permanent image-quality loss in the affected area.
- Bias-voltage instability — a-Se direct conversion requires consistent bias voltage; drift affects DQE.
Replacement
Detector is a major service item. Hologic OEM service typical. Post-replacement calibration includes flat-field, geometric, and DBT-specific QC. MQSA-accredited facilities must requalify per MQSA after detector replacement.
