GE Innova 2100
Family: GE Innova · Modality: Interventional X-Ray
Cardiac-dedicated single-plane interventional platform with the smallest detector in the Innova family — 20 × 20 cm (21 cm device). Pre-IQ-generation Innova. Purpose-built for coronary angiography and PCI where the 20 × 20 FOV matches cardiac anatomy; carotid and limited peripheral procedures also supported. Succeeded by Innova 2100-IQ with the IQ-generation dose-management chain.
Platform architecture
- 21 cm flat-panel digital detector (20 × 20 cm active area) — the Revolution-generation GE flat-panel detector. One-piece construction (not tiled) for uniform response.
- Fluoro acquisition modes — unsubtracted, roadmap, and subtracted fluoroscopy at 30 / 15 / 7.5 fps.
- 100 kW high-frequency generator · Performix 160A-class tube — shared with higher Innova tiers.
- Floor-mounted L-arm with offset C-arm — keeps table and anesthesia access clear of the gantry.
Dose management
- Patient contouring — automatically minimizes SID (source-to-image distance) by tracking patient surface; OEM cites ~3–4% entrance-dose reduction from automated SID minimization alone.
- Innova Spin — rotational acquisition that replaces several fixed-angle sequences with one sweep, reducing both radiation dose and contrast volume.
- Pulsed fluoroscopy — grid-controlled pulsed fluoro at selectable frame rates; 7.5 fps modes support dose-conscious long-fluoro procedures.
The full IQ-generation AutoEx / DoseSense / DRM dose-management chain arrives with the Innova 2100-IQ successor. The base 2100 is the pre-IQ configuration.
Specs
- Single-plane floor-mount L-arm / offset C-arm geometry
- 20 × 20 cm flat-panel detector (21 cm device) — Revolution generation
- 100 kW HF generator · Performix 160A-class tube
- Fluoro frame rates: 30 / 15 / 7.5 fps
- Cine acquisition at cardiac cine frame rates
- Innova Spin rotational acquisition
- Pre-IQ dose-management chain (patient contouring, pulsed fluoro)
Clinical positioning
- Pure-coronary cath lab — coronary angiography, PCI. The 20 × 20 detector is right-sized; the Innova 4100-IQ's 40 × 40 is oversized for coronary-only rooms and complicates positioning.
- Carotid stenting — within the coronary-centric workflow.
- EP lab fluoroscopy — adequate for EP alongside a dedicated mapping system.
- Hybrid OR — small installations where space constrains gantry size.
Not positioned for peripheral runoff (requires larger detector), universal IR (4100-IQ class), or complex neurointervention (biplane class).
Relationship to siblings
- Innova 2100-IQ — IQ-generation successor on the same detector class. IQ adds the AutoEx + DoseSense + DRM dose-management chain.
- Innova 3100 / 3100-IQ — 30 × 30 cm detector sibling for combined cardiac + peripheral + neuro workflows.
- Innova 4100-IQ — 40 × 40 cm detector universal IR sibling.
- GE Innova Family — family card.
- Discovery IGS 520 / 630 / 740 — GE's current-generation successor architecture with motorized rail-mounted gantry; different chassis than the Innova L-arm.
