DR panel

Direct (digital) radiography flat-panel detector — wired or wireless, with CsI on a-Si (indirect-conversion scintillator) or a-Se (direct-conversion selenium) sensing layer. The modern standard for radiography, replacing legacy CR cassettes.

Why it matters to buyers: Image quality and workflow gains vs CR — instant image preview at the console, lower repeat rates, faster patient throughput. Wireless DR panels enable bedside / portable workflow without cassette transport.

Why it matters to engineers: Scintillator aging reduces efficiency; panel lifespan 5–10 years depending on class and duty cycle. DQE degrades over time. Lithium battery aging on wireless panels is the operational lifecycle limit.
