AIR Coils

GE HealthCare's blanket-like conforming receive coils for MRI. The AIR coil platform replaces rigid body / spine / head coils with flexible, lightweight, fabric-based coils that drape over the patient rather than being rigidly positioned around anatomy. Introduced alongside AIR Recon DL on current Signa MRI platforms (Artist 1.5T, Premier 3T, AIR Edition variants).

Why it matters to buyers: AIR Coils change setup time and patient-comfort profile materially vs conventional rigid coils. Fewer coil-swap steps per exam, less time positioning the patient under a rigid body coil; workflow-consistent with high-throughput imaging. AIR Edition configurations bundle AIR Coils with AIR Recon DL and are the premium GE MRI tier on current Signa platforms.

Why it matters to engineers: AIR Coils have different service patterns than rigid coils — fabric wear, connector durability, and channel-by-channel testing via AIR-specific diagnostics. Coil inventory management is different: AIR coils aren't directly interchangeable with legacy GE rigid coils.
