Siemens Biograph Vision.X

Manufacturer: Siemens Healthineers · Modality: PET/CT

Third-generation digital PET/CT, successor to the Biograph Vision. Extends the Vision's SiPM architecture with tighter Time-of-Flight timing (178 ps), the same small 3.2 mm crystal pitch, and updated CT side options. Positioned at the top of the Biograph portfolio above Vision and mCT.

What changes from Vision

  • ToF timing ~178 ps — narrower coincidence window than Vision (~214 ps). Tighter spatial localization per event → lower effective image noise at a given injected activity; supports further dose reduction or faster acquisitions at equivalent image quality.
  • Same 3.2 × 3.2 × 20 mm LSO crystals — crystal geometry is unchanged; the TOF gain is from readout electronics and SiPM generation.
  • 26.3 cm axial FOV — comparable to Vision; both platforms can scan whole-torso with few bed positions.
  • CT side — configurable with current SOMATOM-lineage CT (64-slice base upward).
  • Quadra is a separate platform — the long-axial-FOV Biograph Vision Quadra is a distinct total-body PET/CT, not a Vision.X variant (System Card planned).

Clinical positioning

Top-tier oncology PET/CT — academic and comprehensive cancer centers where small-lesion detection, theranostic imaging, and low-dose protocols justify the premium. Theranostic workflows (⁶⁸Ga-DOTATATE, ¹⁷⁷Lu-PSMA companion imaging, ¹⁸F-PSMA) are a primary driver for Vision.X specification in oncology-heavy centers.
