GE OEC 9900 Elite Super-C
Family: OEC 9900 Elite · Modality: C-Arm (Mobile Fluoroscopy)
Deep-arc 9900 Elite configuration — successor to the OEC 9800 Super-C. 7" more arc depth than Standard 9", 5" more than Standard 12", with an additional 33° of rotation range. Available only with the 9" image intensifier; 12" II is not geometrically compatible with the Super-C arc.
Clinical positioning
Sold into vascular surgery, bariatric cases, and deep-anatomy orthopedic procedures where a Standard arc simply doesn't reach the target or can't clear the patient. A typical customer: a vascular surgery suite that needs to project deep obliquities in heavier patients without repositioning, or an ortho practice that does hip / pelvis work on larger patients.
What's different from the 9800 Super-C
Same story as the Standard 9": higher-DQE imaging chain (~30% dose reduction), touchscreen workstation, modernized DICOM. Arc geometry is unchanged — the bonus arc depth and rotation range match the 9800 Super-C exactly. Most Super-C operators recognize the 9900 Super-C immediately.
Variant-specific considerations
- Main arc casting is Super-C unique — will not retrofit from a Standard variant and parts are NOT interchangeable with the Standard 9" arc.
- Weight is meaningfully higher than Standard 9" — wheels and brakes are beefier; if brakes feel weak on a used Super-C it's a service event, not "how it is."
- Cardiac software packages pair with 9" II — Super-C supports cardiac configurations.
- Some Super-Cs were upgraded with flat-panel detectors in the late production run; verify detector generation on any refurb.
