GE OEC 9800 Standard 9″
Family: OEC 9800 · Modality: C-Arm / Mobile Fluoroscopy
The most-deployed configuration in the 9800 family. 9-inch tri-mode image intensifier (9 / 6 / 4.5), standard arc depth, 512 × 512 image matrix, 15 kW generator. The baseline OR fluoroscopy platform for general surgery, orthopedic fracture work, pain management, urology, and GI across a decade of production.
What Standard 9″ is designed for
- General surgery — cholangiography, foreign-body localization, line placement.
- Orthopedic fracture fixation — long-bone and small-fragment work benefit from the 4.5″ mag mode.
- Pain management — epidural, facet, SI joint, medial branch blocks.
- Urology — ureteral stent placement, retrograde pyelogram, ESWL.
- GI — ERCP, biliary intervention in the GI suite.
The 9-inch II is the right size envelope for these procedures. Anatomy larger than the 9-inch framing (peripheral runoff, aortography, neuro) is the reason Standard 12″ exists as a sibling configuration.
Specs
- 9″ tri-mode image intensifier (9 / 6 / 4.5 inch modes)
- ~1.4 lp/mm resolution in 9-inch mode (published OEM figure)
- 512 × 512 image matrix
- 15 kW high-frequency generator · 120 kVp · 75 mA radiographic · 40 mA pulsed fluoro
- Rotating-anode tube · 0.3 / 0.6 mm dual focal spot
- 300,000 HU anode heat capacity · 60,000 HU/min cooling
- Software licensing available: GSP, ESP, ESP8, Vascular, NeuroVascular, Cardiac
- Dual 19″ monitors on the cart
Cardiac licensing on Standard 9″
Standard 9″ is cardiac-compatible — the Cardiac software license pairs with 9″ II geometry because the 9″ FOV matches coronary imaging. Units sold into OR-based cardiac work (e.g., ICD implant, temporary pacing procedural guidance) are typically Standard 9″ with the Cardiac package licensed.
Relationship to siblings
- 9800 Standard 12″ — larger II for vascular / neurovascular.
- 9800 Super-C — deeper arc depth for larger-patient orthopedic work.
- 9800 MD — motor-driven positioning on the same imaging chain.
- 9800 Plus — 1024 × 1024 HD imaging chain; Plus is typically paired with Standard 9″ geometry.
Parts
Variant-specific: 9″ image intensifier (matching mode configurations and anti-pincushion calibration).
Shared with 9800 family: filament driver, SBC CPU, generator interface, serial cable, X-ray tube assembly, mechanical chassis, monitor cart. See family page for cross-compatibility details.
