GE Signa HDxt 1.5T
Manufacturer: GE HealthCare · Modality: MRI
GE's 1.5 T workhorse MRI of the late 2000s and early 2010s — direct competitor to the Siemens Symphony and Avanto in the refurb market. Shipped ~2008 through ~2015. Large installed base across hospitals, imaging centers, and ambulatory surgery centers.
Specs
- 1.5 T · 60 cm bore
- HD gradients (33 mT/m / 120 T/m/s typical configuration)
- HD coil platform — 8-channel head/neck, phased-array cardiac, spine arrays
- Optima MR750 host workstation (later revisions)
Clinical positioning
Capable of routine neuro, MSK, body, cardiac, and breast imaging. Not a parallel-imaging powerhouse vs same-era premium platforms, but well-suited to general outpatient workloads. The typical HDxt-center reason for retiring the system is host software unsupportability rather than magnet failure — magnets outlast electronics.
Service reality
Helium + cold head same as any 1.5 T. Gradient and RF service economics mirror Symphony / Avanto. A refurb HDxt with documented coil set is a credible alternative to a refurb Symphony/Avanto at similar price points.
