Esaote G-scan Brio
Modality: Open / Extremity MRI
Esaote's distinctive weight-bearing tilt-magnet MRI — a 0.25T permanent-magnet platform that tilts between horizontal (supine) and vertical (upright weight-bearing) patient positions. Distinctive clinical capability: spine, knee, hip, and ankle imaging in functional / loaded posture that whole-body cylindrical-bore MRIs cannot replicate. Niche but durable specialty platform; particularly valuable in spine biomechanics and sports-medicine practices.
Distinctive technology
- Tilting permanent magnet — moves between supine and upright loaded patient positioning.
- 0.25T permanent magnet — quench-free, helium-free, no cryogen-management lifecycle.
- Patient-rotating bore — patient is the moving element, not the magnet.
- Spine + extremity dedicated coils — no whole-body capability; specialty positioning is the trade-off.
- eXP Box / eXP Studio software ecosystem.
Clinical use
- Spine biomechanics — disc herniation visible only in upright loaded position; foraminal stenosis dynamic assessment.
- Knee patellofemoral tracking under load.
- Hip impingement under load.
- Ankle / foot weight-bearing imaging.
- Outpatient orthopedics + sports medicine — practice-fit.
Refurb posture
- Niche refurb category — small global installed base in weight-bearing / extremity-MRI specialty practices.
- Permanent magnet has no cryogen lifecycle; refurb economics dominated by gradient and RF chain condition.
- Coil inventory is the practical clinical-capability variable.
