Philips C5-1 PureWave Probe

Curved-array abdominal / general-imaging transducer with PureWave single-crystal technology. One of the most-used probes on any iU22 — it rarely leaves the first port.

Diagnosis

• "Probe not recognized" → swap ports first (connector wear)
• Image dropout bands → crystal or element failure, needs refurb
• Cable sheath cracked → fix before it becomes a biohazard problem

C5-1 refurb turnaround at Probo or Avante is ~1–2 weeks, typically $4k–$7k vs $10k+ replacement. Almost always worth refurbishing a first time.
