MQSA

Mammography Quality Standards Act — federal law requiring FDA certification, ACR (or approved state body) accreditation, annual medical-physicist testing, and personnel credentialing for every clinical mammography facility in the U.S.

Why it matters to buyers: Non-negotiable. A mammo unit that can't pass physicist testing is not clinically deployable. Refurb purchases must include MQSA-transition planning.

Why it matters to engineers: Budget 1 day / year for physicist; plan downtime. Failed tests take the unit out of service until remediated. Daily / weekly QC binder is the inspection-ready documentation.
