CBCT (rad onc)
Cone-Beam CT — volumetric kV imaging acquired on the linac's on-board imaging system before each treatment fraction. Standard for image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) — soft-tissue and bony-anatomy localization for setup verification and shift correction. Distinct from CBCT in dental imaging or intraoperative CT (Medtronic O-arm).
Why it matters to buyers: Standard for image-guided protocols (prostate, head-and-neck, abdominal SBRT, lung). Required hardware on any modern linac platform.
Why it matters to engineers: Dose from daily CBCT is non-trivial over a 30+ fraction treatment course; dose-aware protocols and ALARA discipline matter. CBCT calibration is part of TG-142 monthly QA.
