BioMatrix
Siemens Healthineers' BioMatrix Technology — a platform-level MRI feature set introduced with the MAGNETOM Vida (first 3T BioMatrix, ECR 2017) and rolled out across MAGNETOM Sola 1.5T, Lumina 3T, and Free.Max 0.55T. BioMatrix has three components: BioMatrix Sensors (respiratory and cardiac sensors integrated into the patient table), BioMatrix Tuners (per-patient automatic shim and RF tuning at exam start), and BioMatrix Interfaces (coil and table handling designed to reduce manual steps per exam).
Why it matters to buyers: BioMatrix reduces per-patient variability introduced by technologist-dependent setup steps. The sensors eliminate respiratory belts on most body protocols; the tuners reduce inter-patient image-quality variability; the interfaces reduce exam setup time.
Why it matters to engineers: BioMatrix sensors and tuners are chassis-integrated. Sensor calibration and tuner service are BioMatrix-specific items on service schedules. Pre-BioMatrix Siemens MRI (Symphony, Aera, Skyra) does not have this platform.
