Agility MLC

Elekta's current-generation 160-leaf multileaf collimator. Tungsten leaves with a projected width of 5 mm at isocenter across the full field, interdigitating leaf pairs (adjacent leaves from opposite banks can pass each other), and high-speed leaf motion (up to ~3.5 cm/sec). Agility replaces the earlier Elekta MLCi (40 leaf pairs, 10 mm projected width at isocenter); a legacy Precise or Synergy system can be retrofitted with Agility as an upgrade path.

Why it matters to buyers: 5 mm leaf width matters for IMRT / VMAT dose conformality. Agility brings Elekta's MLC resolution in line with Varian Millennium 120 (5 mm central leaves) and on par with most current-generation linacs. An Elekta system with legacy MLCi 10 mm leaves is materially coarser for complex plans.

Why it matters to engineers: Agility has different leaf service patterns than MLCi — different lubrication cadences, different leaf-replacement workflow, different leaf-position verification sensors. Commissioning includes Agility-specific small-field dosimetry.
