Affirm biopsy
Hologic's stereotactic biopsy attachment. Converts a Selenia Dimensions / 3Dimensions mammography unit into an upright stereotactic-biopsy platform; a separate Affirm Prone dedicated table is also offered. Tomosynthesis-guided biopsy on Affirm targets lesions visible only on 3D.
Why it matters to buyers: Separate capital investment + licensing. Not every mammo site does biopsies in-house — programs that do absorb meaningful additional capital, paddle inventory, and tech / nurse coverage.
Why it matters to engineers: Requires additional physicist QA beyond screening MQSA — needle-positioning accuracy is a separate test from imaging accuracy.
