Stereotactic-focused configuration of the TrueBeam platform. Combines Varian TrueBeam with Brainlab's Novalis radiosurgery program at launch, positioning STx as the SRS / SBRT-dedicated linac in Varian's portfolio. Defining differences versus the standard TrueBeam: high-definition MLC, 6DoF robotic couch, and integrated stereotactic image-guidance.

Platform highlights

  • HD120 multileaf collimator — 2.5 mm leaf width at the center 32 leaf pairs (covering a 10 × 10 cm central field) and 5 mm leaves outside. The narrow central leaves enable conformal SRS / SBRT planning on small targets where the standard Millennium 120 MLC (5 mm) is too coarse.
  • PerfectPitch 6DoF robotic couch — six-degree-of-freedom treatment couch (three translations + pitch / roll / yaw). Corrects patient positioning errors that a four-degree couch cannot, critical for frameless SRS.
  • Dose rate up to 2400 MU/min — FFF (flattening-filter-free) 10 MV and 6 MV modes enable high-dose-rate SRS delivery that can shorten single-fraction treatments materially.
  • RapidArc — volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) with integrated MLC / gantry / dose-rate modulation during arc delivery.
  • Full energy suite — 6 MV / 6 MV FFF / 10 MV / 10 MV FFF / 15 MV photons plus 6 / 9 / 12 / 15 / 18 / 22 MeV electron energies.
  • Integrated imaging — kV-kV orthogonal pair, CBCT, MV portal imaging. Brainlab ExacTrac integration adds real-time stereoscopic X-ray and thermal-surface guidance on STx configurations.

Clinical positioning

  • Brain SRS — single- and multi-fraction frameless radiosurgery to brain metastases, meningiomas, vestibular schwannomas, AVMs.
  • Spine SBRT — high-dose single-fraction and hypofractionated spine treatments adjacent to cord.
  • Lung / liver SBRT — motion-managed hypofractionated treatments using breath-hold or gating.
  • Head and neck / prostate / general radiotherapy — full-capability conventional IMRT / VMAT also supported.

  • TrueBeam — the base platform. TrueBeam can be configured with Millennium 120 MLC and a standard couch; STx adds HD120 + PerfectPitch + stereoscopic guidance.
