Varex Imaging

Component supplier to imaging OEMs — X-ray tubes, flat-panel detectors, high-voltage connectors, and image-processing software. Spun out of Varian Medical Systems in 2017 as an independent public company so Varian could focus on radiation oncology while the imaging-component business operated as a multi-OEM supplier without channel conflict. Varex now sits behind a substantial fraction of the third-party / OEM-rebranded imaging-component ecosystem — its detectors and tubes appear under multiple brand names because Varex sells to OEMs at the component level rather than direct to clinical sites.

The two principal product lines are PaxScan (flat-panel detectors, broadest deployment of any single detector family across CT, DR, cath / fluoro, security, and industrial NDT) and the MCS / G-series / B-series tubes for CT, DR, mammography, and dental imaging. PaxScan in particular has the deepest cross-platform compatibility of any detector platform because Varex's go-to-market is component sales — an OEM can specify a Varex panel without locking into a single integrated stack.

For refurb / parts buyers this matters: Varex panels and tubes flow through the secondary market more freely than vertically-integrated equivalents (e.g., Trixell Pixium under JV-OEM control, or in-house Canon panels), and parts compatibility across nominally-different OEM platforms exists where the underlying Varex SKU matches.
