fluoroscopy
Real-time X-ray imaging during procedures. Continuous-wave or pulsed acquisition with the operator visualizing anatomy and instruments live during fluoro-on time. Three deployment patterns share the underlying physics:
- Mobile C-arm — surgical, orthopedic, pain management.
- Fixed-table R/F room — GI / GU studies, swallowing studies, retrograde studies.
- Interventional X-ray — fixed cath lab, IR, hybrid OR.
Dose rates and duty cycles differ dramatically across the three.
Why it matters to buyers: Core capability gate for interventional / surgical / pain / vascular / GI workflows. Modern systems with pulsed-fluoro modes and dose-management software (ClarityIQ / CARE / AutoEx) substantially reduce cumulative operator dose at matched diagnostic quality versus legacy continuous-fluoro platforms.
Why it matters to engineers: Fluoro time per exam is a regulatory dose metric under state fluoroscopy-dose-tracking regulations adopted in many states. Long fluoro cases are the highest-risk dose events and the primary driver of operator career-cumulative exposure. Tube duty cycle on long-fluoro cases is the leading cause of premature tube wear.
